The Unicorn

Gaga has a thing for unicorns. She told the Big Top 40 Show in England that she’s “obsessed with the idea of a creature that was born with something magical that sort of made them the misfit in the world of the stallion.” Elaborating further on her fascination, she commented: “They are in essence a mythical creature, so what I’m trying to say is the unicorn was born magical and it’s not the unicorn’s fault and it doesn’t make it any more or less special or any less unique but it can’t help that it was born with that magic.” The unicorn symbol was introduced to the Little Monsters through the album Born This Way. When the album came out, Gaga got a tattoo of a unicorn head with a banner that said “Born This Way” wrapped around its large pointed horn. There is also a song on the album called “Highway Unicorn,” and Gaga tweeted to a fan that “Highway Unicorn is about me. Flying down the road, with nothing but a dream,” and for the performance of the song on her Born This Way Ball Tour, Gaga entered the stage on a giant mechanical unicorn. Fans have adopted the symbol and created fan art incorporating unicorns. Gaga tweeted an amazing piece of fan art that merged Gaga’s head and torso with a unicorn body. Fans bring stuffed unicorns to Gaga’s concerts and throw them onstage or present them as gifts to her backstage.
